Before there was a Bird Brain Sanctuary, there was this one particular hummingbird.

The Prequel

The little book that opens the larger Legend.

Through the Hummingbird's Eye: A Neurosparkle Manifesto is the prequel to The Untold Legend of the Queens of Quincy Bay.

This is not a generic inspirational hummingbird story. It began with one particular leucistic ruby-throated hummingbird I never saw, but whose existence I came to know through the birds who came after her.

The story looks like allegory. The birds are real. The bees are real. The observations are literal. The meaning changes with each perspective you choose to consider.

Bird Brain + Perspective + Habitat + Context

The problem is not how the bird performs. The problem is when someone assumes their perspective is the objective measure of what the bird should be doing.

A Framework for Seeing "It"

The Johari Window

The Johari Window is the underlying lens. The Bird Brains illustrate four questions I bring to one topic: What Is? What If? What Now? What Next?

What Is? · OPEN · KNOWN TO BOTH

Epistemic Eagle

What Is visible and available to us both at this moment?

What If? · BLIND · KNOWN TO OTHERS

Percipient Parrot

What If we could see the view from our blind spot?

What Now? · HIDDEN · KNOWN TO SELF

Ontological Owl

What I can see now that I cannot explain yet.

What Next? · UNKNOWN · KNOWN TO NEITHER

Heuristic Hummingbird

What should we do next that will guide us? Living the Dream in the Meantime.

The Untold Legend of the Queens of Quincy Bay

The current book is the prequel. The larger Legend will be told through seven different perspectives, each grounded in literal anchors that can look like allegory but are actually literal.
