This is not a generic inspirational hummingbird story. It began with one particular leucistic ruby-throated hummingbird I never saw, but whose existence I came to know through the birds who came after her.
The story looks like allegory. The birds are real. The bees are real. The observations are literal. The meaning changes with each perspective you choose to consider.
